Silver-icious

The next kiln firing was even easier and very productive.  I wore a pendant yesterday that looked so simple and elegent. A circle, yet smushed into a horizontal oval. Oh, whatever the shape is officially, I really like it.

This week I need to order the leather cord yet I still have no money.   I THOUGHT I had the best supply for the cords. Suede fabric. The fabric felt great BUT they started falling apart after only a month of wear.   :((( dang it! So I'm back to looking at leather cords and they cost much more.

Allen has leather necklaces that have lasted many, many years. I had wanted to avoid leather so people weren't sad about animal products. But I can't figure out another option. Rubber cords are hideous.

Store-bought chains also are cheaply made and fall apart fast. I have been making my own chains, but chains don't pull thru the silver circles to make them adjustable. Leather will pull thru.

Just when we thought making jewelry was simple!

Just a few minutes ago I was thrilled with the result of the garbage truck pendant for my nephew.  Then I dropped it and it split off the reinforced backing.  *&$*&%$#$#. Then also glad it happened here where I can fix it.  That dry Colorado air had the clay cracking in seconds so I had made it too thin at first, in my haste.  I added a second layer and it looked very cool.  But it's just not binding.  I'm sure there is glue to use but finding it in time is just not going to happen. THINKING...

The puffy hearts in the latest firing came out even better.

Task: Finish Christmas presents and then move on.

oh C you might try ribbon as an alternative, on etsy you can find beautiful hand dyed ribbons and if I can find a link of some finished jewelry using them I will mail it to you:)

Thanks Jenelle!
Once you see how the cord pulls back and forth to adjust it will make sense why ribbon would be pretty, but would get torn up right away. I'll use ribbon on ornaments and bookmarks, for sure!
